Longer Term Interim Roles
I am available to support schools ‘on site’ that find themselves in difficulty following OfSTED Section 5 or Section 8 Inspections and wishing to investigate Associate Head teacher or Associate Principal roles to support senior colleagues and Governing Bodies. This will provide School Governing Bodies and Senior colleagues with an additional on-site ‘external viewpoint and support’ following the disappointment that an adverse inspection judgement may bring. The aim is to provide the school leadership with support and advice as a critical friend during this most stressful of times and would include:
•providing mentorship to the head teacher and senior colleagues,
•reviewing key policies, practices and documents and supporting the introduction of revised processes as required,
•supporting comprehensive school review leading to the development of post inspection plans and target setting,
•undertaking joint lesson observation and other monitoring activities,
•supporting structural review and
•undertaking disciplinary investigation; providing a report and recommendations to the Head teacher or Governors as required.
Depending upon the role to be agreed with the Governing Body and Head teacher / Principal the type and level of support to be provided can tailored to meet the needs of the institution. An example programme of support might be as follows:
•Weeks 1 – 4; in which I attend for five days per week and during which I familiarise myself with key issues, strengths and weaknesses and undertake a review of policies and practices, and undertake joint lesson observations and other monitoring activities with senior colleagues, undertake discussions with HoD and HoPastoral care and other staff, and review staff professional development plans and needs.
•End week 4; I present a report to the Head teacher / Principal, other members of the SLT, and the Governing Body with key recommendations.
•Weeks 5 – 6 (four days per week); preparation of revised school development plan and targets with Head teacher and senior colleagues.
•Weeks 7 – 14 (three days per week initially, reducing to two days per week); implementation of actions arising from revised development plan, supporting the Head teacher and SLT through HMI / OfSTED Inspection.
Fees
Daily rate: £425 - £650 per day (inclusive of VAT) plus expenses. This is inclusive of any preparation, report writing and any follow up. Half days will be charged pro-rata.
Attendance at an evening Governing Body meeting will not be charged for unless this does not coincide with a planned day in school in which the charge will be ½ day pro rata.
